Music Video: My research
4EVER - Clairo
Cameras: Slow zooms, fast pans, and short shots.
Editing: Fast cutting and grainy texture. Credit screen at beginning to introduce actors. Not full screen, cropped to about 2/3 of the whole available space.
Sound: Mostly diegetic sound throughout. However, in the first 30 seconds there is a mix between silence and the diegetic sound from the music.
Mis-En-Scene- Costumes were natural and retro. Lighting was mostly natural light due to filming outdoors but occasionally cut to inside with dim warm lighting. None were wearing makeup. Actors did not put on a character and rather acted as exaggerated versions of themselves. Props included glasses, microphones, and drink cups. Setting was places around a college campus.
Attention - NewJeans
Cameras: Unfocused and sporadic. Many wide shots. Scenes were very short. Most shots were eye level angles.
Editing: Quick and fast jump cuts. There was sparkling effects over the screen at some points. Colors were made more vibrant.
Sound: First 40 seconds was only diegetic sound while the group is at a concert and when Minji is reading and listening to the same music from the concert which bridges the sound between scenes. Then goes silent for a second and Attention begins to play and sound is unmixed non diegetic sound for the rest of the video.
Mis-En-Scene: Costumes were coordinated, young and colorful. They were dressed for the summer. Lighting was bright and in direct sunlight for almost all, and when not was in dim inside light and stage lights. Acting was meant to represent a group of teenage friends during the summer. Makeup was minimal. Props were books, headphones, makeup, phones, and drinks. Set was outside at a stadium, a beach, a sidewalk, a clothing store, living room, bedroom, bathroom, and a small concert venue.
Pretty Girl- Clairo
Cameras: Whole video filmed at a low angle on a laptop camera.
Editing: Jump-cutting between scenes. Pink and white lyric captions at the bottom of the video. Minimal editing besides.
Sound: All sound is non-diegetic, from the music.
Mis- en-scene: Three costume changes, all of them are casual lounge clothes. Lighting is warm bedroom lighting. Acting is natural but bubbly and lip syncing with the song. Claire is wearing no makeup. She uses a figure, glasses, and a mic as props. The set is her bedroom, most likely her bed.
