Music Video: Storyboard process


 I would've started filming earlier, but unfortunately all of the people I was planning to film with were busy. It's okay though, because I built extra time into my plan. Instead, I brainstormed my storyboard. I wanted to make sure it was all realistic. I made sure to refer back to my research and keep on genre. I choose a song that is slow and indie. In my research it showed that most music videos with songs like that usually have an home video vibe. So that is why I chose to shoot at my house with friends. I drew out my storyboard after. It was fun to visualize the scenes and sketch them. I was thinking of adding color but didn't just incase plans changed. I was so proud of my storyboard. I heard that it was an actual job. I think it would be a lot of fun to be a professional storyboard artist. Anyways, now I know exactly how my video will look. It's relieving. I can also set up things just how they need to be. I can prepare all the props and place the camera where they need to be. It will also be useful in showing my actors exactly what I want them to do in a scene.

Music Video: My research

 4EVER - Clairo Cameras: Slow zooms, fast pans, and short shots.  Editing: Fast cutting and grainy texture. Credit screen at beginning to introduce actors. Not full screen, cropped to about 2/3 of the whole available space.  Sound: Mostly diegetic sound throughout. However, in the first 30 seconds there is a mix between silence and the diegetic sound from the music. Mis-En-Scene- Costumes were natural and retro. Lighting was mostly natural light due to filming outdoors but occasionally cut to inside with dim warm lighting. None were wearing makeup. Actors did not put on a character and rather acted as exaggerated versions of themselves. Props included glasses, microphones, and drink cups. Setting was places around a college campus. Attention - NewJeans Cameras: Unfocused and sporadic. Many wide shots. Scenes were very short. Most shots were eye level angles. Editing: Quick and fast jump cuts. Music Video: Filming

 I started filming with my friends. It was so fun to see my ideas come to reality. Before they arrived, I had to choose my cameras. I had multiple cameras to choose from. I enjoy collecting cameras in my free time. Anyways, making the choice was kind of hard. I have two polaroid cameras, one is a mini Polaroid and the other is a digital and polaroid mixed together. I think the mini one has a cuter look, but the mixed one would be more practical. In the end I decided to use the mixed one over the mini. Next, I chose to use my digital camera that can record videos. It has a signature look to the footage which sets it apart. Lastly, I had to choose between my professional grade camera, or my iPhone. This was the hardest. Mostly because the professional one has better quality, however it does not record audio. So, I would have to find another way to record audio. My iPhone has worse quality, but it also records audio. I choose to use my iPhone, to streamline the process. The first scen...
